UTEX® Industries has significantly increased the
sealing capabilities of standard v-packings with the creation of our "ASF"
Design Flat-Back Seal Ring. This design works extremely well in applications
where high pressures are present. Although designed originally for reciprocating
pumps, the "ASF" Design Flat-Back Seal Rings are now being used
successfully in centrifugal and hydraulic applications.
The secret to the
success of this design is the amount of material used in each ring, combined
with engineering angles proven in high pressure situations. The extra material
gives the "ASF" ring greater anti-extrusion ability plus over two (2)
times the normal leakage path of a standard design v-ring. Another advantage of this
design is the need for one adapter only. The flat top portion of the ring
needs no special shaped adapter to make it fit a standard stuffing box, while
also eliminating high stress caused by standard v-shaped adapters. The use of
our "ASF" ring also allows you to use one sealing ring in the place of
multiple ring setups of the past. All of these features combine to make the
"ASF" Design Flat-Back Seal Ring one of the most versatile packings on
the market today.
