Utex® Industries, Inc. offers our cast
polyurethane as an alternative to rubber, plastic, or metal, depending on the
application. This innovative elastomer was developed in the early 1940's and has
been widely accepted as a cost effective replacement for other materials ever
since. The superior abrasion resistance and resiliency of polyurethanes are
reasons why this material is used more and more frequently. Another reason for
using polyurethane is the broad range of shapes and sizes possible. Cast
polyurethane is produced by mixing reaction products with polyols and chain
extenders which cause a series of chemical reactions, resulting in a liquid that
can be poured into inexpensive molds from small sizes all the way up to 200
pound sizes. We have the capability to pour pieces up ton 20 feet long,
depending on the configuration.
The major highlight
of our cast polyurethane operation is the production flexibility we offer our
customers. Specially designed equipment allows us to change materials quickly
without the purging necessary in other casting operations. This allows us to
pour small batches for sample runs, as well as large batches for production,
without the usual downtime. A precise flow monitoring system provides exact
mixing of every batch to insure consistent quality. Utex can provide a wide
variety of polyurethane compounds including systems using soft segments of
polyester, polyether, and polycaprolactone, coupled with hard segments of either
MDI or TDI. Utex is also licensed to manufacture Vulkollan®. Our polyurethane
specialists are constantly seeking new and better materials and production
techniques to offer our customers. Contact Utex or your
local distributor
to see how polyurethane can be of benefit in your application.
Vulkollan® is a registered tradename of Bayer
